Nicole Kupfer
Nicole Kupfer / Athlete’s Representative / WA
Hometown: Auburn, WA
Years in the sport: I started lifting my sophomore year of high school before taking a long hiatus and competing in bodybuilding shows as a National Level Figure Competitor. After being worn out with the strict dieting that comes with being a physique competitor, I started Crossfit in 2013. By late 2018, I shifted my training to full-time Olympic Weightlifting.
Club affiliation: I lift with Catalyst Athletics and Aimee Anaya Everett is my coach.
I am a full-time high school counselor and part time nutrition coach for Working Against Gravity. I also run an after school weightlifting club for students at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma, WA.
After competing in a physique-based, subjectively judged sport like bodybuilding, making the transition to weightlifting has helped me to develop a more positive self image and to have a healthier relationship with food as fuel and not something that is value based. I am on the board because I am passionate about helping newcomers to the sport to feel welcome in the weightlifting community, as well as introducing teens and young adults to weightlifting and the positive influence that training in a strength-based sport can have.
