BIPoC and Women’s Coach Development Scholarship Opportunity

As part of our mission statement to foster the sport of Olympic style weightlifting and its diverse and inclusive community, we are proud to announce coaching development scholarship opportunities for BIPoC and Women within the PNW WSO. We will award 8 total scholarships 4 BIPoC and 4 Women’s.

The emphasis here is to award a scholarship to individuals who can demonstrate a commitment to growing the sport of weightlifting. Applications are available for BIPoC and WOMEN. The scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria.

General guidelines:

  1. you must be a member of USAW and of the PNW WSO.

  2. you must meet the criteria of BIPoC or a woman.

  3. applications must be submitted HERE within the open application period is March 1 st 12:01 AM to March 31st 11:59 PM 2023.

  4. once applications are received they will be reviewed and awarded by the PNW WSO BIPoC and Women’s Coaching Scholarship committee.

  5. coaching scholarships are for level 1 or 2 USAW certifications and must be completed within 6 months of being awarded.

  6. scholarships are only for tuition and do not include travel related expenses, virtual options are available.

  7. We prefer applicants who are working or plan to work with underserved populations in a weightlifting or sport capacity.

  8. Applicants with experience in the sport of weightlifting as an athlete or as a coach are preferred.

  9. Applicants with less than five years of coaching experience in the sport are preferred.

  10. Applicants with high levels of coaching success, social impact through sport and/or academic achievement in sport are preferred.
